Winemaker Notes & Critical Acclaim:

"Deep, dark purple with a black core and red hues. Aromas of just-baked blueberry pie, raspberry, and dark chocolate with hints of sweet baking spice and vanillin oak. Rich and yet also elegant, this wine has beautiful red and black berry fruit flavors, with hints of cloves and pepper with a long finish. Medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, gorgeous palate-weight , and a persistent elegant finish." - Winemaker Note

About The Producer:
"We find extraordinary fruit growing in Sonoma County, Napa Valley, the desolate Sierra foothills of Amador County and other regions of California to make Zinfandels worthy of this grape’s long and illustrious history in the state. Beran—The Bear—is forever a figure of strength and headstrong drive. This same power and conviction stand behind our Zinfandels which we source and make without compromise.

Owner/Winemaker Joseph Wagner is a fifth-generation Napa Valley winemaker with a dedicated passion for the business. In 2001 at age nineteen, he rolled up his sleeves and has yet to look back. His passion and natural talent for winemaking quickly became apparent after he started his own award-winning single-vineyard Pinot Noir label, Belle Glos.

In January 2014, Joe formed Copper Cane Wine & Provisions, with the goal of focusing on innovations that have always captured his interest, and to find new ways to offer the highest quality products that satisfy consumers’ appetites for genuine craftsmanship. Beran is a result of that vision: Zinfandels that embody the spirit of California, with a depth of flavor, vibrancy, suppleness, and sense of place.

Winemaker/Director of Winemaking John Lopez grew up in the Napa Valley, where he often spent time with his father who worked alongside the Wagner family, owners of Caymus Vineyards. At first, it seemed John’s career path would take him in a very different direction from winemaking as he studied criminal justice at Sacramento State and then went on to work at the Juvenile Probation Department in Napa County. But eventually, his heart’s true desire was laid bare. He joined the Wagner family business where he quickly became an assistant winemaker for Belle Glos, working closely with Joseph Wagner. John is also a lover of Zin, which makes Beran a particularly fulfilling wine for him to make."
