Winemaker Notes & Critical Acclaim:"The 2014 Tapestry reflects the 2014-growing season with its dense, powerful aromas and flavors, with bold structure. This is a wine that shows the artistry of blending five Bordeaux-heritage grape varieties, which contributed layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon gave the wine its generous core of briary blackberry and cassis expression, while we increased the amount of Merlot this year to tame the tannins and add plush mid-palate texture. Malbec contributed deep plum notes, while Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot completed the blend with nuances of rose, forest loam and graphite." Blend: 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 11% of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc" - Winemaker Note

"Blended of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 13% Merlot with dollops of Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, the 2014 Reserve Tapestry Proprietary Red Wine opens with crème de cassis and blackberry tart notes over hints of menthol, incense and Christmas cake, plus a waft of dark chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is flamboyant, rich, velvety and seductive, with a lively lift in the mid-palate and a long, spicy finish." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

About The Producer:
"Beaulieu Vineyard is a historically significant winery in California's Rutherford AVA that has been producing wine for more than a century. During Prohibition, it managed to obtain a contract to supply sacramental wine to churches, meaning it was able to remain in production between 1920 and 1933 when the Volstead Act was repealed. This makes Beaulieu one of the longest continually operational wineries in the United States.

The company was founded in 1900 by Georges de Latour. His background was not in winemaking or vineyard management, so he hired famed enologist André Tchelistcheff to come to Rutherford to establish the estate. Tchelistcheff went on to create the prestige cuvée Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, and mentored many of the next generations of Napa winemakers, including Robert Mondavi, Mike Grgich, and Joe Heitz. The company is currently part of Treasury Wine Estates.

The Beaulieu vineyards sit at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains in the Rutherford AVA, and are planted with Bordeaux varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Malbec. As well as these plots, Beaulieu has vines in the St Helena, Calistoga and Carneros AVAs. There are many different varieties planted throughout these vineyards – Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Marsanne and Roussane, Mourvedre, Touriga Nacional, Merlot, and Sangiovese.

In terms of vinification, individual vineyard plots are kept separate throughout the entire winemaking process. The estate uses large stainless steel tanks, and French oak barrels for fermentation.

There are five collections within the Beaulieu range: Georges de Latour Private Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, BV Reserve, BV Napa Valley, BV Coastal Estates and the BV Maestro Collection, which was named in honor of Tchelistcheff."
